By default, your travel information is only visible to those you allow to follow you, and you have complete control over who can follow you. 2. About Explorers

Explorers provides you with the ability to track and remember your adventures by utilizing our Website ( and/or App. When you use Explorers, we will process your personal data, which may include sensitive information such as your location. All personal data is collected, processed, and secured in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Pacem Holding B.V. is the controller of the personal data we process about you in relation to your use of our Website and App.

3. How do we process your personal data?

Account Creation

Explorers values your privacy, and so do we. We are committed to being transparent about our data practices and giving you control over the personal data we collect about you. When you create an account with us to track your adventures and follow others, we ask for basic information such as your name, email address, hometown, and password. You can also choose to register using your Facebook, Apple, or Google account, which may grant us access to your public profile information. We process this data as necessary to provide you with our services, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Using Explorers with an Account

As a registered user, you can use Explorers in various ways, such as automatically tracking your route and adding photos and videos or manually entering places you’ve been. You have control over your trips’ privacy settings, which by default are only visible to your followers. Depending on how you use Explorers, we may process personal data including your name, email address, location, added content (trips, reviews, etc.), searches, who you follow and who follows you, and technical information such as your IP address, device type, and preferred language. You can delete your content or your account at any time, and we will delete your data 90 days after you delete your account. If you haven’t used your account for six years, we will remind you twice and then delete your account permanently.

Finding Your Friends

You can allow us to access your address book and/or Facebook friends list to find out which of your friends use Explorers. We will only process the email addresses and Facebook IDs of your friends for this purpose.

Location Data

To track your trips and places you’ve visited, we process your location data. You can choose to manually add locations or have us track your route automatically. You can also grant us access to your location to suggest adding a trip when it looks like you’re traveling. You can withdraw your consent to share your location at any time.

Sharing Your Travels

You can share your trips with others, and you have control over who can see them. You can choose to share them only with yourself, your followers, or everyone. By default, your trip is only visible to your followers. When you set your trip to public, anyone can see your live location.

Using Explorers Without an Account

You can view public adventures shared with you without creating an account. We will only process necessary technical information for this purpose.

Ordering Our Products

You can order products to remember your adventures. We process personal data such as your account details, shipping information, payment information, and the contents of your travel book for this purpose.

4. How do we share your personal data?

We never have and never will sell your personal data to third parties for commercial purposes. Our policy is to only share your personal data when necessary to provide our services, as explained in this section.

We disclose personal data to third parties who process personal data on our behalf. We enter into a processing agreement with our processors and bind them legally to process your personal data in accordance with GDPR. We share data with:

  • Hosting service providers to store our user data
  • Printing partners and delivery services, to print and deliver travel books
  • Companies which help us analyze usage of the App and Website
  • In addition, we may be required by law to provide your information to a third party

Other parties may also be involved in the performance of the agreement with you as an independent or joint controller. We will inform you about it when this is the case.

We will only store or process your personal data outside the European Union (and the EEA) if it complies with the applicable regulations for the transfer of personal data to countries outside the European Union. This means that we will only transfer your personal data to countries outside the European Union if the European Commission has decided that the third country in question ensures an adequate level of protection or if other appropriate safeguards are put in place, such as the use of unchanged standard data protection clauses approved by the European Commission.

Explorers takes the protection of personal data seriously and implements appropriate measures to prevent any misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure, or unauthorized alteration of personal data.

6. What rights do you have?

As mentioned previously, you can make changes to most of your information by accessing your account settings. In addition, you can view, modify, or delete individual trips by accessing the settings for that specific trip. If you wish to obtain a copy of all your data or delete your account, you can do so via your account settings. Furthermore, if you have previously given us permission for certain processing activities, you can revoke that permission at any time.

You have various rights concerning your data, including the right to access, correct, or erase it. You can also ask us to restrict its processing or transfer your personal data, and you have the right to object to its processing.
